Subject: Re: Computerized/Automatic Calf Feeders

Another question I had is aren't they hard on the nipples? I would think if they went in the machine and it didn't give them any milk or even after they got done they would beat the heck out of them and chew on them. Do you have to replace the nipples quite a bit? I saw an article on a Lely feeder and it says that it has a door that closes the nipple off once they are done feeding and opens for the calf only if they are due for a feeding. Seems like that may be a practical option. Gear Grinder, I give TSV-2 and Bose on arrival. Band and horn paste day 2. Express 5+PHM at weaning. I am relooking my vaccination schedule also as I seem to be having quite a bit of trouble with respiratory as well. The tests I have had done do show its not a virus or pasteurella though so the Express 5 is holding. Think a lot of it was just the extremely wet summer we had here allowed a lot of bacteria to grow. Couldn't keep them dry.
