West Central WI | Wondering what type of storage others use for baleage. We started with individually wrapped big squares. Worked ok, but took alot of time and film. The first time we had only one skid steer while wrapping and took forever. Then, went to round bales in a tube wrapper (H&S mfg.). Really sped things up. I haul all the bales up ahead of time, and as fast as I can set them on the wrapper they get wrapped. Less film too. Now if you were going to sell them, I would see where the individual bales would be nice, but for my self feeding I really like the tubes. The one place where I think preserving works better with the individual bales may be oats/rye. They seem to be spongy and I think the tube doesn't wrap them as tight, but it still works fairly well. Anyone else have a preference of baleage methods? | |
