easier, and saves electricity too.

Your TRUE cow efficiency, is the calf's weight divided by cow weight as both are individually weighed at weaning.

Your ratio stuff is always as compared to peers or contempories. ( the breed associations have recently related calf ratio data to supposed cow efficiency ....it's NOT realtive...but what the heck, as long as cattle folks buy it....well then they buy it )

If you insist on using a computer, can just put your formulas on an excel or excel type spreadsheet ( most any spreadsheet or data base already on your computer will work fine ).

Interesting creatures are the breed associations themselves:,

If your into Angus cattle, we can still register AM defect ( fawn calf ) hiefers until Jan 1, 2012.
We can still register NH defect ( neuropathic hydrocephelous )hiefers until June 15, 2012.
We can still register CA ( curly calf defect hiefers ) until October 5, 2013.

Thus if your a multi defect breeder, it appears one can still register hiefer calves carrying all 3 defects until Jan 1, 2012, but can only register the hiefer calves carrying 2 genetic defects until mid June 012.

Under NO circumstances can an Angus calf with any white at the navel or forward of, said, any spot above the underline, or spot on any part of the legs be registered.
Under NO circumstances can an Angus calf with ANY roan, or ANY red spot on it be registered, however if the red, roan or white is due to a birth mark, the calf can be registered .

Interesting what some breed associations consider a defect. ( STRANGE critters, those breed associations ).
