I felt stupid paying $400 for the tail-chop of our 1 year old tomcat that was just a barncat but he was pretty, first-born batch of some cats my wife brought to the place, and I could see it would go better if I kept him around. He was missing a few days, then dragged his tail home with a cord, was infected, otherwise he was a very healthy strong cat.
Turns out he set up a hunting route along the ditch bank, and has eliminated 2000 feet of striped gophers for nearly a decade now, I've gotten good corn from those 4 rows of corn the gophers used to destroy, so I think he's actually paid me back more than the $400.
Funny how that came around.
