The other guys have told you basically what PRRS is, but the question is what type of operation do you have? We are wean to finish and have had prrs at least 2x that we are sure of and every time with a good wash out, disinfecting and drying we've gone back negative for the next group. In a farrow to finish it's really hard to get it gone without a depop. There are vacines that work, but apparently are not as cost effective as something like the circo virus vacine so it's not used widespread in herds.
