The chain is the pièce de résistance. Roy Underhill on his show made one of those chains and explained how to do it. I tried and succeeded in making one but it wasn't anything great. However my friend who is an engineer and a master wood worker made one from a large dowel rod. It was perfect, I threw mine away in embarrassment.
