I don't know that answer.  The three that I'm remembering were relatively new McMansions, so I'm guessing not, but that's just an assumption on my part.   Don't seem to see lightning rods in those upscale residential areas.  Whether the builders think something else tall in the neighborhood act as a lightning rod and leave their construction alone, or they aren't attractive enough, I don't know that either.
