NC Iowa | Good question. I had a coworker for seven years that I did not like at all as he was very rude, grumpy and back-stabbed more often then he was OK. I was always very nice to him, tried to "kill him with kindness" , never worked. My boss knew about it, but the grumpy guy had been there 28 years in a union shop so not much could be done.
The only thing that ever helped was talking about things private to him. Kids, divorce, his Dad, etc. Every once in a while he would open up a little and be pretty decent.
Weirdest thing about the whole deal when we would go out for a work "social event" he would be great. Could hang out and shoot pool with him all night and have a good time. I think he just hated his job so much that the second he walked in he was in a bad mood, and the second he walked out he was good again. | |
