N/E Iowa | The sale i went to today there were some real nice Black heifers weighing 1200 to 1300 pds, and was thinking they "might" bring $1,400.00 at best............ HA, HA! I believe there were 30 head and half those went for $1,675.00!!! Yes they were nice cattle, calving in March- April. But I never thought they were going to bring that much! There were more that were just as nice bring in that $1,300.00 range.
I bought 5 out of a group of 15 to replace some older cows next spring, they were a little lighter than i was wanting (990 pds) black calving in march, I gave $975.00 which is plenty I know, but some of the farmers around me said that group of 15 will bring well over a thousand after the first of the year? I saw cow calf pairs 4 year old cows and 300 pd calves bring $1,300.00 to $1,400.00. Nice looking pairs!
