Northeast Iowa
Those are the pens of cattle that are ready for market and usually the ones a feedlot wants to show the buyers when they come to the feedlot to bid on cattle. The show list is also a form you can fax or email to the plant for them to consider what to buy for grid cattle in the upcoming week if a buyer doesn't physically show up at the feedlot. If you hear them talk about "the show list getting cleaned up," that means the cattle offered for sale were pretty well spoken for by buyers and supplies of market-ready fed cattle are getting tighter, especially if the show list gets cleaned up early in the week.
