If you have alfalfa hay you may not need any additional protein for beef cattle. Have you tested your hay? if it is over 10-12% why add more? They are not dairy cows.  I would just make sure they have good hay, good water and good mineral. I do like the mineralyx tubs. I would suggest before you add more cost and work get your hay tested then decide if they need more protein.

I have been told anything more than about 10% protein in a beef animal just comes out the exhaust. fwiw.

edit I would suggest you ask your neighbor to do the same before getting into a liquid feed system. If they are on stalk bales only or some other low protein filler well maybe then. But mine are on good hay only, no grain except for a treat once a week or two weeks and Mineralyx now and people keep telling me they are too fat.
