Subject: Just had the worst windstorm EVER in N. Idaho and E. Washington

Northern Idaho
Last night a windstorm with thunder lightning, rain, hail, and snow ripped through this area and pretty much everyone lost power over a 200 mile stretch from Grangeville, ID northward. Power is still out at home and probably wont be back on until Thursday. The airport at Moscow-Pullman Washington recorded a wind gust of 85mph. The problem where we are is all the trees which put the power lines on the ground and blocked roads all over the place. The power company says it caused more damage than any other windstorm in history around here. They say the worst hit areas are from Potlatch ID, south to Grangeville ID and then over into Washington. Another local power company shop had the roof blow off. County road department shop has the roof and trusses gone. A 25ft X 25ft round steel grain bin is missing from the top of the gilbert grade above Orofino. It just blew away and no one can find it. Estimates are that some of the flat camas prairie had 100mph winds which is the highest anyone can remember.

Luckily there is not that much damage on our property, probably are many trees blown down in our timber and across fences and some fell in the fields but no building damage. We all have wood stoves for backup heat and a generator to run the water pump and other essentials occasionally.
