Subject: Good advice..

..also, as long as the air in the chimney is warm or hot, the creosote will keep moving upward because hot air rises.  We have a fire place insert, it as a 30 degree elbow in it to get it out side where another 30 degree elbow straightens it back out. With a fire place there is less build up than a stove, "typically" because the piping on a chimney tends to be larger, and you can't close down the flu as much, so the creosote, along with your heat goes out the chimney.  have Friends with a stove, and they use it as primary heat, they lean a ladder up against the chase and drop a chain down and bang it against the sides 2 or 3 (maybe more) times a year, but they burn GOOD HARD wood, that is fully seasoned. not no 6 mo. dried wood.
