Subject: RE: gate and hinges question

western iowa,by Denison
2 inch solid shaft all the way through the gate(2"hole drilled in concrete)with a simple angle iron on top,we grease the hole and shaft-slide shaft in and then cut the holes in the top angle iron4"x8"(1/2"angle)the gate then swings on the whole 2inch shaft-had 800# on end of the 20ft gate and it only deflected 1"-20 minutes to hang the gate!If you look close we put a pipe between the bottom of the gate and floor to get are swing height-usually10-12" 14 gates hung so far and love the way we do it-plus I can remove the gates if I need to!I hate those damm bolt hinges-aint going there again, and the shaft is cheap compared to the factory hinges!
