| Around here, barn swallows were "off limits". We could shoot sparrows, pigeons, starlings, crows - anything but swallows and robins. We even halted cleaning boxstalls one day to save a nest of baby swallows that got knocked down by the skidsteer loader - made them a "prefab" nest out of a plastic milk replacer cup. Mamma was having a fit the whole time, but she finished raising that batch of birds, put a row of mud around the top of that cup and raised another batch in it! I sure wish we had gotten some pics of that. :) | |
