Driftless SW Wisconsin

Hay, I appreciate your comments. It is hard to convey however how difficult it has been to make good, timely, dry hay the past two seasons in my area of SW WI.  It seemed like it was raining almost every week during the traditional hat making season and even when it wasn't raining there was just the drying weather.

So controlling hay quality by managing baling was darn near impossible. My supplier is a very good hay man and was about to pull his hair out - he ended up making hay when he could rather than when he should. That is one reason the test results may look a bit odd to those from drier climates.

Actually the past 30 days has been the best hay making weather in WI in the past 2 years - if you have anything there to bale!

Thanks again for your evaluation and comments. The information by many in this thread has been very valuable to me.
