Do you mean West Texas as out West, or West, TX the town 60 or so miles south of Fort Worth?

Maybe a second ingredient like Claudes Fajita Marinade to go with the Coke.
Try come Coors or Millers beer as a Marinade. That stuff is not fit for drinking, maybe it is good for tenderizing meat.
