Subject: 15% blend coming soon to a gas station near you!

"I fully expect the Environmental Protection Agency sometime,
probably in early to mid October, to make a decision about the
direction of E-15," Vilsack told reporters.

Question;
Why do we subsidize AND mandate at the same time?? Wouldn't a mandate (which costs nothing to the taxpayer btw) create enough demand to allow ethanol production to keep cranking without the need to dip into the taxpayers pocket to fund the credit?? I don't get it...

Think about it-- a mandate makes the greenies happy because we're forcing more renewable energy. A mandate without credit/subsidies makes the conservatives happy becuase it's one less gubment program using tax dollars. I don't see any real effect on corn price if we quit subsidizing the ethanol industry and just mandate more blend.

Enlighten me
