SWMN, seeing the same thing in Ontario. Sweet corn yields are highly variable, the guys that are used to +7ton corn are only seeing 4-5 Ton yields. Having said that , intermingled with those disappointing fields are some +8 Ton fields. Seems like the yield is highly dependent on location, soil type , planting dates and rainfall ,I would expect the same to hold true for the grain cron crop.
