They got greedy and put short term profits ahead of their customers.  They jacked prices up on R-up and seed to levels that generated much resistence from customers.  This resulted in people going to generic glyphosate and/or other options such as LL seed. 

If you do not treat your customers in a respectful and appreciative manner they will seek other alternatives as they become available.
