| A few people have started just south of us. They are all disappointed in yields. Farms that typically run 200+ are coming in between 140-170. Several areas south of the Illinois River did not get some of the July rains that those of us north of the river did, so I don't know if these yields are predictive of ours. We'll know shortly. The problem in our immediate area was too much water during June, with 30 inches falling from Memorial Day to July 1. We have many areas where water took the N down and the corn was yellow all season. I really think the crop is going to be shorter than the USDA thinks. I'm guessing this crop has a $5 in front of it before the end of the year.
