I'd suggest flying vs. driving . . . . Not sure from your airport, but from MSP, there are cheap airfair deals to Seattle - much cheaper then gas split 2 ways.

Oh, and no mountain passes to drive through/along side to be afraid of (if one is afraid of heights and has motion sickness) . . . . As one post suggested, I-90 is a relitively easy drive with lots of trucker help available if neccessary . . .
