Ed, need to know more, what is % of forage in ration, what is make up of forage portion (eg. 50:50 haylage / corn silage).

Beleive the rule for drive over piles is 3:1 (width to height) for maximizing packing ability and minimizing spoilage. We really like to keep the pile narrow enough to cover with one piece of plastic lengthwise rather than cutting and connecting width wise. Makes covering way faster and winds no problem. I think the plastic we are using now comes in 66'widths now. @ 125 cows a big issue is too much open face so if possible going longer and narrower would be better IMO.
