New Mexico
breeding Up so to speak, there were Half blood cattle then 3/4, then 7/8 etc.

Lotta Charolais were upbred out of Hereford cow bases. Started in the 60's then more in the 70's.

Also keep in mind in the early years more chars came up from Mexico than from anywhere else.

Plenty of the were upbred from a herfy or Other Red base too.

Nice thing about the red factor is they have no "rat tail" gene.

"rat tail" in the chars actually comes from the pure whites and is due to the fact one of the "size 10" char bulls which won everything thus very popular in the mid to late 80's was NOT a char at all.

He was a purebred white simmy.
