MN | We used to use some stuff from the vet that used to help with the milking problem - probably had oxytocin in it along with some other vitamins and miscellaneous. Have you tried rubbing her udder? When I was a kid - a long time ago - we trained baby piglets to drink from a pan - they really picked up on it quickly, but never were quite the good looking piglets you would like - but then again us kids could only have the ones that were one step from death's door.... meaning tiny, bottom feeders. Might want to check with the vet on milk replacer as I don't think regular calf milk replacer is quite the thing - but its been a long time. Would you happen to have another sow that has pigs that are about ready to wean? We've weaned and swapped new pigs onto a sow, but you have to douse the piglets in some smell - maybe Vick's vapor rub or some really stinky perfume so she can't figure out the smell problem with the new pigs. Also get some really good quality starter feed if you get that far-they should start to pick that up early. Good luck! | |
