bit north of London, UK | Southern france and south (spain italy bulgaria) about done
Northern france, germany, UK, Ukraine, Romania - wheat harvest starting / well underway
Russia - very big country! - in the south done - wont have started in the north.
From trade sources / friends who farm across Europe... France wheat - a bit better yield than feared a month ago...Germany - every bit as bad as feared. UK - only wheat cut is lighland in the south - yields well below trend but probably not suprising for the season given the dry weather.
Poland, Hungary - have been as wet as other countries have been dry - too wet.
Ukraine problems started with some winter kill, but in west part the spring summer have been ok - yields okish. Eastern Ukraine has been dry like neighbouring Russia - no contacts there, but gossip is that it's grim. Ukraine will be well down overall, but not a disaster. The disaster is Russia/ Kazahstan.
No disasters in EU/western Europe, but unusually EVERYONE is 10-20% down. (Some farmers of light land around Berlin in particular may be having a personal disaster, but.) | |
