Southeast Colorado | I'm sure you must be talking something besides KC Wheat but that's all I know so I'll comment regarding that aspect. We are currently at -$1.40 and everytime the market moves up .20 we seem to lose .05 to .10. When your basis is 30% of the value of the crop itself I'm not sure how you can safely use the board to lock in future grain sales. Who says you will not have a $3 or $4 negative basis a year or two from now? Now when it comes to cash contracting, that's a different ball game. I'm tempted to lock in a good portion of next year's crop now but I just got done swearing off of that program 6 months ago. I'm unbelievably confused with this marketing CRAP anymore!
