Scroll back for 3-4 pages and there has been quite a bit of talk about wireless and extending your network.

Local fert dealer put a satelite on one building and wanted service into another but the metal siding and distance was a problem.  They ran a network cable to the wall closest and put a range extender of some kind with the antenna outside the wall and a comparable unit on the other building.

A friend has high speed internet in his office. Put a "Pringle can" type antenna in a window pointed toward his house with another one in his home office window.  Now he can access the company computer and its high speed internet anytime.  A side benefit is he has it automatically backing up data to his home computer every night, so he has off site backup.
