Well, my first calf of the yr got hit by a cougar or bear & died. Second was a bull. The herd seemed to be a little more attentive to this one.
In their defense 1st calf was born while they were on walkabout checking out the neighbor's banked grass. Of course they were in a canyon that is about 20 feet wide at the bottom.
