on the haul you speak of.

Sounds like awfull light calves for the stress your talking though.

Long haired weaned 3 and 4 wts will take a trip like you speak of generally OK.

2 wts are generally still babies. MO

Babies can go backwards pretty hard and fast if they break with something due to a long trip.

Date cut off going N like you mention would be say last part of August, 1st part of Sept.
Takes cattle about 30 days for their system to really start to "hair up," like You need there.

Only Supposed Southerns that can generally ( not always though ) go N year around are Mountain or Highland Mesa raised cattle out of the SW ( high altitude Northern Genetic type Cattle used to the deep and still crap, ie deep as your as$, 20 below and more darn snow areas ).
