Centre county Pennsylvania, USA | John, I think we're all suckers for latest gadgets, myself included. I also think Precision Ag Mfrs know that and keep us well supplied with "new gadgets" so our life is made more interesting that way. I'm not sure that's a mindset, maybe more like a marketing strategy that seems to be working, for now.
As a practical matter, I have found that combine and tractor drivers here don't want to mess with ANY precision Ag gadget stuff. They seem to instinctively know that their job is to farm acres, not bytes and bits. They all do say auto-steer is helpful thou, if it works without requiring tractor driver flight certification and flight engineer on board. |
