I would have to agree on the sore part. I had never knife cut before (had the vet do a one testicle one last year and didn't look too difficult so thought it was worth a try with this one nut calf). I just used a utility knife (the kind I castrate baby pigs with with the snap off blades) and worked pretty slick. Have another batch to castrate this coming weekend - about 2 months old so might try to knife cut some and band some to see if there is a difference. Plan to implant at the same time. We usually don't implant so something different also.
