Subject: Re: Calf problem

northwest tennessee
I had a cow do that for 3 years in a row and I kept her. She would claim the calf but if it bawled or tried to come to her she would butt it down. She would have a hormone problem or something but at about 24 hours would claim the calf. She then went 2 years and did fine then this year she does it and broke the calves leg. I tried to work with her but I think whe lost it this year and I sold her. I put a cast on the calf and feeding it on the bottle. Give that cow some time and she will claim it. At least she did let it nurse so it will make it. The cow I am talking about after the 24 hours she would think the world of it and even try to fight you if you came up to them. I wasted way too much energy on her though. She was a good cow except for that and raised a good calf. I wanted to kill her this year though.
