puddles are a problem.  I have a waterer with some of the best well water in the world 50 feet away but the dang calves and some cows will still be drinking from a puddle while fouling the same puddle with manure out the other end.

I have a low spot that fills with water every spring that I have been rigging an electric wire on step-in posts around to keep them out and hopefully prevent this type thing. Having a perimeter electric wire gives you a connection spot to do lots of these sort of things.
