| Go to the Microsoft site and download their free windows Media Encoder program. You can use it to save to your hard drive any song that is played through your sound card like those that are on You Tube. This saves the sound in .wma format. to convert the files.
You can then go to sourceforge.net. (all files on sourceforge.net are free for individual use) This URL at that site is a list of converter files: http://sourceforge.net/softwaremap/trove_list.php?form_cat=119
I have used Media Coder but also use a program called DMC AudioInput CD which i go from their ste (Google the name).
In case I want to edit the mp3 file I create from the conversion I use a program called Audacity which you can also get for free from sourceforge.net
