I want protection from a fall on dirt or gravel. Hope not, but.....

Looking at a Fieldsheer Congo Sport textile jacket. 

Looking for protection if I should fall on gravel or pavement. 

Sales man said it should not wear through on a fall.  Was leaning towards leather, but it is a bit hot in the summer. 

Anybody have any advice?  Thanks.

Had a leather Bates 40 years ago. Darn, it was only $45 then.
