It is the performer and promoter who are getting ripped off big time.
In Canada, the ticket selling companies have affiliated companies that buy the tickets as they come on sale for the list price, then their affiliate resells at whatever the market will bear.
The performer-promoter only shares in the first sale. The profit in the second sale all gets kept by the powerful and connected(monopoly franchise on selling tickets at venues) affiliated company.
When the performers/promoters get their head around this, there is going to be a good Hollywood lawyer who gets very rich sorting things out.
Now if politicians were only smart enough to recognize what happens when the ticket sellers come to town. | |
