nw illinois
I stopped in at the Pioneer plant at Kekaha(sp) Kauai when I was there in 2001. I don't think they do tours to people just stopping by. I grow seed for Pioneer so stopped in to chat a little bit. If your wife/SO is along prolly would not appreciate time spent there. A seed corn plant in Hawaii is about the same as one in Iowa to the average person. It is interesting to learn about parent seed production and seed production but could do that on the mainland. One thing that is unique is that there are some months where they are detassling, harvesting and planting all at the same time. They do alot of time isolation and can squeeze close to 3 crops a year occasionally.
