Unless I am moving around much in my house, I tend to keep my thermostat somewhere around 60-62 deg F.

Then I have 2 small portable electric heaters (I think they are rated around 1500 w - I bought one at Home depot, and the other one at Target.)  I use these to heat the two rooms that I most often use - heat them up to around 70 deg F. or so. 

It seems to work for me.
