Just Installed XP home upgrade . Manual said if hard drive was 30 gig or less leave it at FAT 32 as NTFS will use up to much space on hard drive so thats what I did. Fat32 can be converted to NTFS at anytime and most all your old software should work , but if you go to NTFS first ,you can't go back to Fat 32
