Subject: RE: Kansas rain amounts

WCMO-SWMO Area
Yesterday in mid afternoon and evening I came thru the Kansas Flint Hills on Hwy 99 from east of Marysville to north of Emporia and then on east..The streets were flooding in Osage City...Earlier in the day they had already had about 1 inch at Marysville and up to around 3-4 inches at Clay Center..Water was standing everywhere at Wamego and I hit the rain at Alma soon after I crossed I-70 heading south..It was torrential at times with flooded fields and the ditches and some creeks were running full all the way to Missouri..

In checking rain amounts this morning 2-4 inches was common in eastern Kansas with a few places getting 5-6 inches....I had 3.5 inches which was the first rain thats ran water here since May of 2022...Rain is forecast for the next 10 days with another 3-4 inches expected..It doesnt take long to go from drought to flood and quite often right back to drought.
