Faunsdale, AL | If it’s got machined surfaces then the anaerobic cure sealer is good by itself. I’ve used it on gaskets as well, but have no follow up on how it worked long term, how hard to remove etc. Unless you can find some old gasket stuck on the surfaces or some other bump or protrusion. I think the fact that your pump leaked with the paper gasket probably means you would not have good luck with just the anaerobic sealer. I guess if it’s just pitting on otherwise flat machines surfaces, it would work.
Most common usage for me would be a thin bead of RTV silicone gasket maker with no gasket or a very thin layer wiped on a paper gasket
The brown liquid Permatex #2 used to be standard practice to glue/seal every kind of paper or cork gasket to the surfaces so there is no way to get anything apart without breaking the gasket. Made the job of removing gaskets a real pain! I still use it for gaskets, thread sealant etc.
