Illinois Heartland | The matching gear with the adjustable pin in it is broken off and missing on the other side.
There would have been a long upside down u-shaped frame with each leg of the u fitting over a pin. The piece of the u between the legs connected to the pullout on the water pump.
This pic isn’t the same as yours, but illustrates the concept.
