Subject: Honda MUV 700 engine and trans trouble started same time

East Central Arkansas

I probably have less than 20 miles on a fresh oil and filter change. I had noticed on one cooler day before oil change it didn't want to shift out of low like it should but after it warmed up seemed to be alright. Took it out the other day and seemed to be doing fine. Stooped to check on a drainage culvert for a few minutes and think I left idling. I know I set parking brake. I had noticed idling faster than normal. I tried going forward and didn't want to go. I though maybe brake didn't release. Put in neutral and reapplied and released parking brake again. Back in drive didn't act right might have tried reverse before getting it to go forward. Seemed to be doing alright but slowed down to cross some rough beds and passenger had to get out so it would go across. After that went to back up to turn around and had trouble ever getting it to go forward again. After that carried back to shop and parked. Cool enough day engine fan shouldn't have been running when I turned key off and back on. Checked engine oil and was full but noticed the dip stick was really hot. I don't know that I am good enough mechanic to tear that engine and trans down. I have been watching some videos this afternoon and it looks like there is a screen inside the crankcase that can stop up. Complete tear down to get to it.
