No, you don’t need the coulter to cut residue or loose the soil ahead of the openers in worked ground. The row units are heavy enough to maintain depth in worked ground. I put Kinze 2000 parallel arms on our 7000. That way the springs are quick adjust and I can go from almost no spring tension in worked ground to adding a few hundred lbs if we notill.
