Subject: RE: 12 volt wiring questions?

Wisconsin
1. I'd use 12g because I have it, 14 would be fine, 16 probably fine.
2. 20A DC rated should be fine.
3.the power feed should be fused at the fuse panel, or at the battery if it gets power directly from the battery, the fuse sizing is bigger for automotive wiring than for house wiring, so 30A fuse on 12g wire is fine. No other fuses needed.
4. a relay would be used to have a smaller switch control a bigger current flow, or if the switch was out of the way of the path from power to motor. In this case I don't see what a relay would do for you. The relay would be controlled by the switch, not in the line to the switch.
