I have seen that claim. There could actually be something to it as a contributing factor.
Funny thing is, since wife and I changed what we eat, I in particular have much better mouth health. Subsequently breath and teeth are better. Gums no longer bleed when brushing.
As a result I no longer use mouth wash and only use salt on my tooth brush. Don't seem to need the traditional stuff. In hopes it improves my mouth microorganisms. Seems to be working for me as far as I know.
Ask me in ten more years if I am still alive. 70 now.
