If you can bring yourself to do it there is a lot of stuff worth more as scrap than what it will sell for at auction. I see scrap buyers buying stuff to cut up you could actually take to the field and use. Some decent smaller usable implements like two row stuff will sometimes bring more than a 8 row piece in the same condition. I have seen 8 row stuff at auctions I could have just torched 3 rows off each side and sold for scrap and then sold the 2 row implement for a nice profit. It's just hard to make myself to it when I get to looking at the value of a nice long piece of iron in it if I needed for something. The thing with scrap is finding someone that won't steal it all from you if not doing it yourself. Then knowing how to prepare for the scrap yard and knowing they aren't stealing it. |
