I have the hand held laser tach that you stick the little piece of reflective tape on your drive hub. Mine has worked pretty good for us but can give crazy readings at times that are pretty easy to know it's not right. Those times I just need to reposition how I am holding it and pointing at the hub. I haven't tried it but might just need to paint that hub flat black except for that piece of tape. For the hour meter just a simple electric hour meter that's on when engine is running. If you have the right alternator can use a electric one that has hour meter also. I replaced one on one of the newer JD 4D80 units that have Murphy controls. I got it from Diesel Parts Direct in Baton Rouge LA. Those laser tachs are fairly cheap and can be used for other applications. |
