coast of Maine
I can see the angst but for those that are farming there already is it not a super opportunity to have a ready market for what you could grow for them? Here in Maine our biggest in the state is a few thousand cows.Only a couple and no more land base for more.Great people. They grow all their own so not a benefit for others except good jobs. But if a mega cow operation is going to buy all their feed I would be on as a grower.Do you care if you make more on say silage than ear corn?I was talking to a dairy guy in CA,he said feed stock acreage was their limiting factor for growth. Was told with out almond/citrus by products there would be a feed deficit in the central valley.I would be growing organic acres using their manure here.
